schedule of trainings/Events

Precertification Schedule (for prospective foster/adoptive families):

OLV Human Services holds the MAPP/GPSII precertification (Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting/Group Preparation and Selection II/Model) sessions three times per year.  Sessions begin in February, June, and October with session consisting of ten classes, held once per week for three hours.   Families are required to attend at least nine of the ten scheduled sessions for certification to occur.

Ongoing Training/Event Schedule (for certified foster/adoptive families)

Once MAPP/GPSII precertification is completed and a family is certified as a foster/adoptive family, OLV Human Services requires each parent to complete at least 8 hours of additional training per year.  OLV Human Services provides these training sessions every 3rd Tuesday of the month, from April through October, in our offices.  Each training is held in the evenings from 6pm -8pm.  Training topics are areas of interest to foster/adoptive parents and have included a Court Panel Discussion, Functions of Behaviors, African American Hair Care, the Nurtured Heart Approach, the Importance of Play, and Adoption Processes.
